With this year’s book production out of the way, it’s time to start getting some ideas for next year’s yearbook.

The process of planning out a document as large and diverse as our yearbook takes time, thought, time. revision, and more time. Your work with this project will help set the tone for next year’s classes (and book).

The Project

Here are some examples from the 2019 – Theme_Ideas_20

Due June 18

The Details

There are 3 Parts to this project:
Theme/Inspiration Board
Cover Concept
Layout Samples

While it can be overwhelming to see all of these pieces together, a good way to approach this is by doing one part at a time. This gives you an opportunity to focus on one specific task.

Another way to approach this project is to look at previous yearbooks. Designs usually recycle every 30 years, something from the mid 1990s might be back in style…

As well, don’t ignore small details. Sometime you can build an entire idea from a small piece of inspiration. Searching online for topics like “Graphic Design Trends 2026/2027” or “Yearbook Themes 2027” can give you idea of what is on the horizon.

Here are some examples and ideas to help you get a better sense of of what each part can include:
