Sunny 16 is the ultimate cheatsheet for shooting in Manual Mode.

The Rule: On a sunny day, set your Shutter Speed to 1/over your ISO, and set your Aperture to F/16.

This system is a throwback to the days of film photography, when most hobbyists couldn’t afford a light metre or it wasn’t practical to carry one around all the time.

What’s great about this rule is that it still works on DSLR cameras.

The Assignment – DSLR
