The Rule of Thirds is one of the most commonly used and featured composition techniques in photography.

In fact, you may be already using this idea, and not really know what it was.

The Rule of Thirds is the concept of breaking a scene into a 3×3 grid, and placing the most interesting focal point/subject/etc. into 1/3 of the scene.

The goal here is to give your audience a chance to take in the whole image after they have focused on the main topic (which is offset).
