Welcome to Photoshop.

Photoshop has been around for a quite awhile – 1990 was when the application was first released, but there were more primitive versions before that.

Initially, Photoshop was used exclusively for photo-editing. It had some basic tools for adjusting photos and doing minor digital postproduction work. As time went on, Adobe added more tools (mostly from the suggestions of users), and became more focused on building and designing; rather than the touch-up editing it was originally intended for.

Additionally, Photoshop shares a lot of tools and processes with Illustrator. This makes both a great combo for designing and creating media.
